COMMISSIONS

I specialize in custom commissioned paintings. If you are interested in commissioning a painting of your own and would like to learn more about that process, you can review the details below. For additional information and to request a price list, please feel welcome to contact me.
Commissioning your custom painting follows an easy 5-step process:

1) HAVE AN IDEA?

Are you looking to add a personal touch to your home, office, or a new space? Maybe you are searching for a meaningul, one-of-a kind gift. Perhaps you are even considering enhancing your art collection with an original piece entirely unique to you. Whether it's a portrait of someone you love, a landscape of a special place you have visited, or a vision right out of your imagination, I’m here to help bring your idea to life. 2) LET'S CHAT

During our meeting, we'll discuss all key aspects of your commission, including subject, composition, medium, surface, size, and pricing, as well as any other important details. I’ll take notes and create a file to ensure I have everything needed to craft the perfect painting for you. Please feel free to share any reference materials, such as photographs, examples of artwork you admire, or images of the space where the finished piece will be on display. The more insight I have, the better I can tailor the work to your vision.

3) THE PROPOSAL

Within a few weeks, I’ll provide you with a detailed proposal outlining your project. This document will clarify all aspects of the process and include a sketch or mock-up to give you a clearer idea of the finished product. Once you approve the proposal, I’ll begin the painting. At that point, I’ll issue the first invoice and collect a 50% deposit. Preferred payment methods include Zelle, cash, and checks sent in the mail, though I also accept Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, credit cards, and wire transfers for a small transaction fee.

4) SIT BACK & RELAX

Once I actually put brush to canvas, you can sit back and relax. Most paintings are completed within 6 to 16 weeks after receipt of the deposit, depending on the project's scope. I’m happy to provide progress updates with photos or videos, though many collectors enjoy a surprise reveal upon delivery. During this time, we can also discuss display options such as framing, which I offer at a fraction of the cost charged by most framing shops.

5) SPECIAL DELIVERY

The most exciting part of the process! Once your painting is finished, I’ll reach out to schedule delivery. I offer complimentary in-person delivery within Southwest Michigan and Chicagoland, or you are welcome to pick up the piece from my Grand Rapids studio. For other locations, I ship securely via FedEx. Upon successful delivery, the remaining 50% balance will be collected along with any outstanding fees. Every painting arrives ready to hang, and once it's on your wall, it’s officially yours to enjoy!
